In the following article, we will take a closer look at the “Technology deep dive” section of the “Explore technologies” feature of the Valuer platform. We will show you how easy it is to discover new emerging trends in the form of technologies, providing you with a deeper understanding and insight into a technology of your choosing.

On the platform

Combining Natural Language Processing (NLP) and a team of human researchers, the Valuer platform allows you to do a deep dive into companies, technologies, industries, and sub-industries most relevant to you. Our continuously updating database allows you to choose from over 500,000 companies spread across 24 industries, which can be further separated by technology. You can also take a deeper look into the technology itself, with the Valuer platform currently offering a curated list of over 30 deep dives.

Thoroughly researched by our team of in-house analysts, the deep dives provide a detailed description of the technology, its applications, benefits, state of maturity, market developments, and of course, its impact on sustainability. If the technology you are looking for is not on the list, then you can request a deep dive as part of our bespoke report service. Now let’s take a closer look at the “technologies tool” and how you can use it to do a sustainability deep-dive on a specific technology.

Technologies on the platform

Taking a look at the tabs on the left side menu of the Valuer platform, among others, you can spot a tab called “Technologies.” This tab leads to the “Explore Technologies” section/feature of the platform, and inside, you can find a list of over 30 fully enriched technology profiles ready to be explored that are relevant at the moment of research.

technologies

Each technology profile from the list has its own page, offering different aspects of the field to be explored. All of the presented technologies are carefully chosen by our technology research team by analyzing the recent market trends, discovering the fields in which the world’s top startups are working in, as well as the fields of the most recurring startup requests on our platform.

The technologies list is constantly evolving and is being updated daily with new emerging technology fields. Every new day brings new technology profiles to be explored. If you think that a technology profile that would be interesting is missing, you can always use the “Suggest a technology profile” feature on the page to suggest a technology.

Every technology profile consists of three parts:

  • A short description, which briefly describes the particular technology and gives an insight into the research report.

  • A list of companies that use the technology, generated by our AI and ML engine. The engine uses NLP algorithms to select companies from our database of over 500,000 companies that fit the technology description the most.

  • Technology deep dive section, which consists of deeper insights in the form of a research report into the chosen technology field.

Kicking off the deep dive

In the following section, we will be focusing on the “Technology deep dive” feature of the technology profiles. Here, you will find out how easy it is to order one and exactly what you will be getting once you do.

Choose a technology

After browsing through the suggested fields in the explore technologies feature and reading the short descriptions, you should now have an idea of which technology topics you would like to explore further.

All you have to do now is to click on the technology profile of interest and select the “Technology deep dive” tab to request your in-depth report.

The data of the deep dive

Once you are in the “Technology deep dive” section, the segments or categories of the technology report will appear below. There are five segments that make up each report, and they are:

deep dive

Detailed description-

This section will give you a general overview of the technology that you are interested in, i.e., it lays down the technology’s basics. The idea of the section is to get you familiarized with the technology. Some questions that this section will answer are: What is it? What’s it made of? What is it used for?

Applications-

This section examines the use cases of the technology across different industries or across different verticals within the same industry, depending on the technology’s application scope. It contains a carefully drafted categorization of the applications into different verticals across a single industry or across different industries.

This section strives to answer questions such as: What’s the scope of the technology’s application? How can it be used within a specific industry? If and how it can be used within different industries?

Maturity-

This section presents major key developments in the technology’s roadmap. However, rather than a historical overview, it is focused on recent developments and events within the field.

This section strives to answer questions such as: Is the technology emerging or aging? Is the technology already commercial or is still being developed “in the lab”? Is the technology a fit with a single industry or has a tendency for cross-industrial adoption?

Market predictions-

Unlike Maturity, this section focuses on the future advancement of the technology, i.e., it presents an outline of expected future developments complemented by forecasts conducted by external market research sources.

Questions that this section will answer are: What is the expected value of the market for this technology? What is the expected growth rate during the forecast period? What are the market growth drivers? As well as other interesting market prediction facts worth mentioning such as geographical segmentation, sectors, etc.

Sustainability-

This section allows you to find out how sustainable a particular technology is, i.e., you’ll get in-depth knowledge on the sustainable side of the technology and what can be implemented in order for this technology to become more sustainable.

Some questions that this segment will answer are: Does this technology help make companies/industries more sustainable? Can this technology be adopted in a sustainable way? Is the technology relevant to the UN’s SDGs and which ones?

The report sections are locked by default. In order to have an insight into them, you will need to use 1 credit per technology. Once you choose to dive deeper into the technology you will need to click the request research report and the request is being sent to our content production team.

Once a Deep Dive is requested

When the request is being sent, our content team is immediately informed and gets to work. Our content writing team is divided into three sub-teams– technology researchers, Innovation Researchers, and Senior Innovation Researchers.

The technology researchers start with the in-depth research of the technology. Before writing anything on the subject, for us, it is very important to have a clear understanding of the subject that needs to be delivered. While doing this, the tech researchers create clear instructions for the Innovation Researchers on how the technology needs to be described to maintain Valuer’s technical standards.

All of the information used for writing the report are collected from reliable sources within the field, such as industry key players and the most recent market research reports. After all of the directions are prepared for the Innovation Researchers, they continue with writing the content of the report and doing deeper research on the non-technology-related parts. When the Innovation Researchers are done with writing, the report goes back to the Technology researchers in order to check if the technology was described up to standards and if the focus of the report was covered.

When the technical editing is done, the report goes to its final development stage in the hands of the Senior Innovation Researchers. The role of the Senior Innovation Researchers is to check if every piece of information is in the right place, fact check the written content by comparing it to the directions from the technology researchers, and to check sources. In the end, the Senior Innovation Researchers check and edit the text to make sure it is written correctly and in the highest possible standard.

The preparation of the technology report costs 1 credit on the Valuer platform, and it takes 2-4 business days to be delivered. After every request made on the platform, the technology deep dive section is revised by our content team in order to check if everything is up to date according to real-world industry developments.

Order bespoke reports

If you want to take a look into a specific technology that isn't currently available on the platform, you can request it as a bespoke report. This service allows you to define the focus of the analysis as you see fit and even modify what information you would like to see. If a specific topic that usually isn't part of the general report is particularly valuable to you, then it can be included in the report if our technology researchers approve it.

how it works

The process for producing a bespoke technology deep dive follows a similar procedure as the standard analysis. But due to its customizability, it might require additional steps. Nevertheless, the standard process starts with you defining the challenge and focus of the analysis.

Once we have this information, our team of technology researchers forms guidelines with the key information that must be included in the deep dive. The team then digs deep into the topic based on these established guidelines, with the draft version additionally being validated by the technology researchers. Then the innovation researchers fact-check the remaining information and revise the vocabulary and grammar.
